Erik grew up believing that a man's word is his bond. 90 years ago, this country made a promise to all Americans: work hard, pay into our system, contribute to society, and we will NOT let you fall into poverty in your golden years. We promised each other not only to protect the elderly from poverty, but to give them a sense of dignity in their final years. 50 years ago, we added to that pledge by creating Medicaid so that the needy and aging would have access to quality healthcare. Today, however, the MAGA-rebranded Republican party has broken that promise. Our Representative, Josh Brecheen, has voted to cut Medicaid--- a decision that will have life-and-death consequences for the individuals who will no longer have coverage. And why did he do this? What could possibly be as important as saving American lives? Tax breaks for the wealthy. He voted to take away life-saving medical care so that our Treasury can write checks to the rich.

This is unacceptable.

When elected to Congress, Erik will fight not just to preserve the benefits that you worked your entire life to enjoy, but he will work to expand them! When our society made that promise, it was understood that Social Security would provide more than just an income---it would provide dignity. Unfortunately, that is something it isn't doing today. We need to ensure that payments to seniors provide enough to cover all living expenses. No American should have to choose between food and medicine, rent or gas, utilities or insurance. It is a shameful reality that we must face and fix now.
