OKLAHOMA'S 2ND DISTRICT — Erik Terwey, progressive Democratic candidate for Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District, today condemned the prospect of yet another U.S. military strike on Iran — one launched without a vote of Congress — as both a constitutional violation and a reckless act of fiscal irresponsibility that will be paid for by the same Oklahoma families already struggling to keep the lights on, fill prescriptions, and feed their children.

Bartlesville, OK- This morning's military strikes on Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro represent a dangerous overreach of executive power and a clear violation of both our Constitution and international law. I am compelled to speak out against what appears to be an illegal act of aggression that will diminish America's standing in the world and set a troubling precedent for how we conduct foreign policy.

Erik Terwey, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District, spoke about the importance of protesting.

“Nonviolent resistance is not weakness. It’s the most effective tool that the powerless and those in minority have ever wielded,” Terwey said. “It has brought down empires. It took down segregation, and it has shaken dictators from their thrones, and it will absolutely turn back the tide of fascism in this country.

Bartlesville, OK- In response to the tragic death of Charlie Kirk, Erik Terwey issued the following statement:

"The despicable political killing of Charlie Kirk yesterday is yet another example of why we need common sense gun laws. The United States has the highest number of gun deaths of any industrialized nation, and we need to reduce the number of guns in our communities. With more guns than people in our society, there has to be a better way forward, ever as I support the 2nd Amendment."
